The Leitz 9cm f4 Elmar is one of the first lenses Leica produced for their 35mm rangefinder cameras. This relatively lightweight and compact lens offers good telephoto reach (90mm) at relatively affordable prices. Produced for almost forty years, the 9cm f4 Elmar went through several variations but all are good performers if you don't mind the slightly slower f4 maximum aperture.
This version of the 9cm f4 Elmar has a Leica M39 lens mount.
